Overview

This 15-day adventure is designed for travelers who want the ultimate Ugandan safari experience. It combines classic savannah game drives in Murchison Falls National Park and Queen Elizabeth National Park, primate tracking in Kibale Forest and Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, and rewarding hikes in the Rwenzori Mountains and other scenic highlands. Along the way, you’ll encounter the Big 5, trek chimpanzees, stand face-to-face with mountain gorillas, and explore some of Africa’s most breathtaking landscapes.

Tour Plan

Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, your guide will meet you and brief you about the journey. You’ll be transferred to your hotel in Entebbe for rest and preparation for the adventure ahead.

You’ll begin with a drive to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for a guided rhino tracking experience, completing the Big 5 checklist. Later, you’ll continue to Murchison Falls National Park, Uganda’s largest park, famous for the Nile River and its powerful waterfall.

Enjoy an early game drive across the northern plains, spotting elephants, lions, buffalo, giraffes, and possibly leopards. In the afternoon, take a boat cruise along the Nile towards the base of Murchison Falls, with spectacular sightings of hippos, crocodiles, and birds. You may also hike to the top of the falls for panoramic views.

Spend the day exploring Murchison on foot with ranger-guided hikes through the savannah and riverine areas. This gives you a unique opportunity to track smaller wildlife species, birdlife, and experience the park more intimately than by vehicle.

After breakfast, you’ll drive south through rolling hills, villages, and tea plantations, heading toward Kibale Forest National Park, the primate capital of the world.

Begin the day with a trek into Kibale’s lush rainforest. Track chimpanzees and spend an hour with them as they feed, groom, and play. Kibale is also home to 12 other primate species, making this a truly diverse experience. Afternoon option: Bigodi swamp walk for birdwatching and cultural encounters.

You’ll spend the day hiking around the Ndali–Kasenda crater lakes, a stunning volcanic landscape near Kibale. Trails lead to breathtaking views, traditional villages, and vibrant farmlands.

After breakfast, you’ll drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park, known for its rich biodiversity and the Rwenzori Mountains backdrop. The afternoon is spent on a game drive in the Kasenyi plains.

Start with a morning game drive to spot lions, elephants, Uganda kob, and buffalo. In the afternoon, enjoy a boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel, famous for its large concentrations of hippos and birdlife.

This day is dedicated to hiking in Maramagambo Forest, located inside Queen Elizabeth National Park. The forest is rich in birds, primates, and volcanic features such as the bat cave and crater lakes.

You’ll travel through the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth, famous for tree-climbing lions. Continue to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, the home of mountain gorillas.

This is the highlight of your safari. After a briefing, you’ll trek deep into Bwindi’s misty rainforest in search of a gorilla family. Once found, you’ll spend an hour observing these gentle giants — one of the most profound wildlife experiences on earth.

The day is spent hiking trails around Bwindi, offering stunning views of terraced hills, villages, and lush valleys. You may also meet the Batwa community and learn about their forest traditions.

After breakfast, drive to Lake Mburo National Park, Uganda’s smallest savannah park. In the afternoon, enjoy a walking safari to see zebras, giraffes, antelopes, and bird species up close.

On your final day, you’ll enjoy a guided morning nature walk in Lake Mburo, before beginning the drive back to Entebbe. You may stop at the equator for photos and souvenirs before your evening flight, marking the end of your 15-day safari.

This 15-day Hiking, Gorilla, Chimpanzee & Big 5 Safari is Uganda at its finest. It combines mountain hikes, savannah game drives, boat safaris, and primate tracking into a single unforgettable journey.
